Nepali Buddhists Mark The Festival Of Samyak Mahadan

A Nepali Buddhist devotee is offering rice grains to the idols of Buddha, which are being brought to the Nagbaha in the ancient city of Lalitpur, Nepal, on March 14, 2024, for the Samyak Mahadan. Observed every five years, the vihars within the Kathmandu Valley are bringing out all the idols of Buddha, followed by thousands of devotees who are queuing to worship and offer alms. This festival has been celebrated in Lalitpur for more than seven centuries, having started from Nepal Sambat 135 or 1015 AD, during the Licchavi Period in Nepal's ancient history.
