Shrovetide celebrated in Pyrohiv Open Air Museum

KYIV, UKRAINE - MARCH 16, 2024 - Kolodkuvannia ritual recreated as part of the holiday "Kolodii. Masnytsia" on Spivoche Field at the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine in Pyrohiv, Kyiv, capital of Ukraine. A "kolodka" in the form of a rolling pin, log, shawl, ribbon, or flower was attached to boys and girls limbs as a punishment for not getting married during the previous Masnytsia.
