Lyu Haowei and his colleagues are mainly in charge of cleaning up garbage scattered on the cliffs of a glacier park on Yulong Snow Mountain, southwest China's Yunnan Province. Another group workers like He Dejun clean garbage near the boardwalks of the scenic spot. Having worked at the park for over eight years, both of them have witnessed an increase in environmental awareness among tourists with less casual littering. The snow-capped Yulong Snow Mountain is located in the northwest of the city of Lijiang with the main peak elevation being 5,596 meters. There are 19 glaciers in the mountain. Born in 1945, Namgyal grew up in what is now Doilungdeqen District in Lhasa. Namgyal recalled that his worst memory was the rain, which would seep through the leaky roof and wet his only suit of clothing, leaving him to continue working for the serf owner the next day in soaked clothes. After the democratic reform in 1959, life of Namgyal and his family totally changed. The family of four received dwellings, livestock and farmland. Born in 1934, Kelsang Chodron was once a serf of a local manor. As both her parents served as serfs in the manor, the same misfortune befell her ever since she was born. Suffering from endless work and hunger day and night, Kelsang chose to escape from the place of misery once, along with two other girls who shared the same sufferings with her. Unfortunately, their efforts were in vain. They were caught back to the manor, ending with severe punishment. "I was badly beaten up with unbearable pain," Kelsang Chodron recalled.
