Protest For Better Wages And Better Public Services In Toulouse

Social workers are demonstrating in Toulouse, France, on March 19, 2024. One is wearing a vest that reads 'Angry National education social worker. Invisible? Yes!' while another is displaying a paper stating 'Am I invisible? Yes. I'm a university social worker.' Unions have called for a day of strike and protest, demanding better wages and the cessation of what they describe as the dismantling of public services, including education and health. Nearly 2,000 people are joining the protest with various unions (CGT, SUD, CFTC, UNSA, etc.) to voice their opposition to austerity, inflation, and to advocate for equal wages between men and women, as well as environmental protection. Nationwide strikes and protests are occurring across France. Riot police are intervening to seize a banner created by high school students and have made two arrests for mask-wearing.
