Protest For Better Wages And Better Public Services In Toulouse

Social workers are holding a placard that reads, ''Social worker, a fantastic job but a pathetic career and working conditions,'' in Toulouse, France, on March 19, 2024. All unions have called for a day of strike and protest for better wages and are demanding an end to what they describe as the dismantling of public services, including education, health, and public worker services. Nearly 2,000 people are demonstrating in a joint protest with all unions (CGT, SUD, CFTC, UNSA, etc.) against austerity, inflation, and for wage equality between men and women, as well as for environmental causes. Protests and strikes are occurring all over France in a national day of strikes. Riot police have intervened to seize a banner made by high school students and have made two arrests for wearing masks. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
