Protest For Better Wages And Better Public Services In Toulouse

A high school student is pleading for the release of high school students detained by riot police for wearing masks. All unions have called for a day of strike and protest for better wages and to demand an end to what they describe as the dismantling of public services, including education, health, and other public worker services. Nearly 2,000 people are demonstrating in Toulouse, France, on March 19, 2024, in a joint protest with all unions (CGT, SUD, CFTC, UNSA, etc.) against austerity, inflation, and for equal wages between men and women, as well as for environmental causes. Protests and strikes are taking place across France in a national day of action. Riot police have intervened to seize a banner created by high school students and have made two arrests for mask-wearing. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
