Iran-Daily Life In Iran’s First Ever Nuclear Seaport City Of Bushehr

An Iranian man is riding a bicycle past fruit and vegetable shops at a bazaar in Bushehr, Iran, on April 28, 2024. Bushehr is Iran's first nuclear seaport city, located in Bushehr province on the northern coast of the Persian Gulf, 1090km (677 miles) south of Tehran. The Bushehr nuclear power plant, initially contracted with the German company Siemens in 1975, faced construction halts due to the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and subsequent political sanctions. After a long delay, Iran and Russia reached an agreement in 2004 to complete the project. The power plant became operational and connected to the national electricity grid in 2011, marking it as Iran's first and only active nuclear power plant. (Photo by Morteza Nikoubazl/NurPhoto)
