New facility for orangutans at northern Japan zoo

Photo taken on May 21, 2024, shows an orangutan in a new enclosure at Sapporo Maruyama Zoo in Sapporo on the northernmost Japanese main island of Hokkaido. A rainforest similar to that of Borneo, the ape's habitat, has been recreated in the indoor facility, which opened to the general public the same day.
