World's 1st wooden satellite
Photo taken on May 28, 2024 in Kyoto, western Japan, shows "LignoSat," the world's first wooden satellite developed by scientists at Kyoto University and Tokyo-based wood products company Sumitomo Forestry Co. The spacecraft, a cube with 10-centimeter sides and weighing 1 kilogram, was created with the aim of harnessing the environmental friendliness and low cost of wood in space development.
