Livestock Ahead Of Eid-Al Adha In Kashmir
Sheep are being seen at a livestock market ahead of the Eid-Al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) festival in Srinagar, Kashmir, India, on June 13, 2024. Eid al-Adha is one of the holiest Muslim holidays celebrated each year, marking the yearly Muslim pilgrimage, known as Hajj, to visit Mecca, the holiest place in Islam. During Eid al-Adha, Muslims are slaughtering goats, sheep, and cattle in commemoration of the Prophet Abraham's readiness to sacrifice his son to show obedience to God. They are splitting the meat into three parts: one for family, one for friends and relatives, and one for the poor and needy. (Photo by Firdous Nazir/NurPhoto)
