STORYLINE:
The ECRL, a Malaysia's mega rail project with a total planned length of over 600 km, is being built by the China Communications Construction Company.
The rail link is expected to greatly enhance connectivity and bring more balanced growth to the country by linking its less-developed region on the east coast to the economic heartland on the west coast.
As of mid-April, the project has seen 65 percent completed, with 13 stations along the route already under construction.
Currently, there are about 23,000 staff working on the project.
Since the track-laying work of the ECRL officially started last December, more than 180 kilometers of tracks have been installed.
