STORYLINE:
China's ultra-large self-propelled cutter-suction dredger Tian Jing Hao, or Sky Whale, on Saturday completed its task in the ongoing Pinglu Canal project in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Initiated in August 2022, the 134.2-km-long Pinglu Canal stretches from the Xijin reservoir in the city of Hengzhou to Qinzhou port in the south of Guangxi.
The Tian Jing Hao was used in the waterway construction of the canal on Aug. 20, 2023. Since then, it has dredged around 2,570,000 cubic meters of sand and mud.
Since it was put into operation in 2010, the Tian Jing Hao has played an important role in the construction of major ports along China's domestic coast and major national strategic projects.
