Photos of WWII Japanese soldiers
Photo taken on July 31, 2024, at Misaka shrine in the western Japan city of Yamaguchi shows photos of Japanese soldiers who went to World War II. Those photos were sent to the shrine during the war by family members as it was believed that doing so would help the photographed person dodge bullets and survive. The shrine has been trying to return the photos to the families since the end of the war but about 14,000 photos still remain.
