Sumo: Kitanofuji vs. Takanohana

TOKYO, Japan, Sept. 13 Kyodo - Yokozuna Kitanofuji (top) pushes down sekiwake Takanohana on the eighth day of the 15-day New Year Grand Sumo Tournament in Tokyo on Jan. 16, 1972. The referee initially declared Takanohana the winner, citing the fact that Kitanofuji's right hand touched the ring first, but the ringside judges, who have the final say, raised an objection to the judgement and reversed the decision based on a sumo rule allowing a wrestler to touch down first to avoid injury.(Kyodo)
