Nationwide Protests Demand President Yoon Suk Yeol’s Impeachment In South Korea

Supporters of President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment shed tears after the motion is rejected in the National Assembly. On December 7, 2024, in front of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea, nearly one million citizens gather in hopes of passing the impeachment vote. However, the motion is ultimately blocked due to opposition from lawmakers of the People Power Party. As a result, Yoon temporarily avoids impeachment despite invoking martial law, an act amounting to treason. (Photo by Chris Jung/NurPhoto)
