A Rally To Demand The Release Of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah - Lille
On 19 February 2025, a rally was held at Place de la République in Lille at 7:30 pm to demand the release of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, who has been imprisoned in France for 40 years. The rally was part of a series of demonstrations organized in several French cities, including Paris, Toulouse, and Marseille, on the eve of the Paris Court of Appeal’s decision on his parole application, scheduled for 20 February. Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, a Lebanese pro-Palestinian activist, was convicted in 1987 of complicity in the murders of an American military attaché and an Israeli diplomat. Although eligible for release since 1999, his previous requests have been repeatedly denied. In November 2024, the sentence enforcement court authorized his release on the condition that he return to Lebanon, but the decision was suspended following an appeal by the anti-terrorism prosecution.
