Flooding in Spain

Fracture of the Charco de la Maricana irrigation pond, on March 18, 2025, in Jarandilla de la Vera, Cáceres, Extremadura (Spain). The fracture of the Charco de la Maricana irrigation pond at around 5:15 a.m. on Monday morning released 310,000 cubic meters of water without control, unleashing a flood that swept away vehicles, flooded homes and caused roads to be cut off. A married couple was trapped in their home, but firefighters from the Fire Prevention and Extinction Service (SEPEI) managed to access the house and bring the couple to safety.
