Fire In The Mosque Of Cordoba Completely Extinguished - Spain

The dean of the Cathedral of Cordoba, Joaquin Alberto Nieva, offers a press conference to the media after the fire occurred last August 8, 2025 in the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba, on August 9, 2025 in Cordoba (Andalusia, Spain). Firefighters have managed to completely extinguish the fire declared this Friday after 9 p.m. in a side chapel and on the roof of the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba. The mayor has recognized "damages" suffered in some wooden vaults that were "recently restored" but assures that "a catastrophe" has been avoided and the monument "is safe".
