A supercell storm ripped through the Emilia-Romagna coastal area on Sunday, August 24, leaving hundreds of trees uprooted from the ground before smashing up parked cars in Milano Marittima, Ravenna. The storm brought strong wind gusts, over 100 km/h, combined with a downburst, causing flooding, damage to homes and businesses, and a trail of destruction in its wake.
President of Emilia-Romagna Michele de Pascale declared a state of regional emergency.
