Carballeda Fire Burns 700 Hectares of Land - Spain
A helicopter works to extinguish the fire, on September 7, 2025, in Casaio, Ourense, Galicia (Spain). The fire in Carballeda de Valdeorras, declared on the afternoon of Saturday, September 6, in the parish of Casaio, advances this Sunday towards an area where the fire is "more controllable". The fire already burns about 700 hectares, according to the latest estimates of the Consellería do Medio Rural, and is also located in a terrain "more accessible" than the one that devastated more than 5,000 hectares in August in the same locality. The fire started in two distant points and, in the terrain between them, other outbreaks emerged, which suggests that "it was not accidental", and therefore it was possibly intentional.
