Pope Leo XIV plants a symbolic olive tree for peace with other Lebanese religious leaders during a meeting with Christian and interreligious leaders at Martyr’s Square in Beirut , Lebanon on December 1, 2025 the second day of his Apostolic Journey to Lebanon. At this ecumenical and interreligious encounter Pope Leo XIV upholds the Catholic Church’s desire to foster dialogue. Pope Leo said the presence and faith of Lebanese expats throughout the world represents a vocation to build peace, confront intolerance, overcome violence, and show the path to justice for all.
