Spain: Hail and Heavy Rain Hit Malaga’s Axarquía Region on Christmas Eve
On December 24 (Christmas Eve), a storm bringing heavy rain and hail struck the Axarquía region of Málaga province in southern Spain. In several coastal and inland towns, the ground and even the beaches were covered in white, and a waterspout was also sighted offshore near Chilches.
Authorities issued an amber warning for heavy rain and activated an emergency flood prevention plan. Traffic was disrupted on the A-7 motorway due to poor visibility and slippery road conditions, with some sections closed. Reports included localized flooding of homes and roads, as well as minor collisions, but no major damage has been confirmed so far.
