Pope Leo XIV opens his first Extraordinary Consistory of Cardinals in the Synod Hall at the Vatican on January 7, 2026. The proceedings took place behind closed doors. Over the course of two days, the Pope will meet with members of the College of Cardinals in order to foster shared discernment and to offer support and counsel to the pope in carrying out his responsibility for the governance of the universal Church.
