Japan: Volcanic Ash Blankets Vehicles in Kagoshima Following Eruptions at Sakurajima
Sakurajima volcano in Kagoshima erupted multiple times starting Saturday, April 11, sending ash columns thousands of meters into the sky. A Level 3 eruption alert remained in effect, warning of large volcanic rocks and pyroclastic flows within approximately two kilometers of the crater, with ashfall reported in surrounding areas.
