Japan: Magnitude 5.5 Earthquake Shakes Tokyo Region 2

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake shook Tokyo and surrounding regions Tuesday evening, June 16, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported. The epicenter was located in southern Ibaraki Prefecture, with several municipalities in Gunma and Saitama prefectures — including Ota and Kazo — recording a lower 5 on Japan's seismic intensity scale. No tsunami warning was issued.
