Heavy rains moved across western Japan due to a stationary front on Wednesday, June 24, with linear rain bands developing over Southern Kyushu and triggering torrential downpours. Rainfall exceeded 108mm per hour in Satsumasendai City, flooding roads and suspending Kyushu Shinkansen services between Kagoshima-Chuo Station and Kumamoto Station.
