South Korea: Torrential Rain Triggers Deadly Landslide, Flooding in Geoje 2
Heavy rain fell across the Geoje area, South Gyeongsang, and continued into Monday, August 17, triggering a landslide in the early hours of Monday that killed at least one person. The torrential rain also prompted dozens of residents to evacuate. Roads flooded repeatedly across downtown areas, and around 20 roads were closed to traffic. Power outages also left homes and businesses without electricity across the area.
