OSAKA, Japan - Photo shows Misao Okawa, a 114-year-old resident of Osaka in western Japan on Feb. 27, 2013, who was recognized the same day as the world's oldest woman by Guinness World Records. Okawa was born on March 5, 1898.

A certificate by Britain's Guinness World Records recognizing the 114-year-old woman as the world's oldest person arrived by mail on June 30 at the town office of Fukuchi, where she lives. Minagawa became the world's oldest person on Jan. 28, 2007 after U.S. women Emma Faust Tillman died on the day at the age of 114.

KAGOSHIMA, Japan - The Guinness Book of Records has listed 114-year-old Mitoyo Kawate (file photo) of Hiroshima city as the world's oldest person. Born in Hiroshima Prefecture on May 15, 1889, Kawate became the world's oldest person after Kamato Hongo of Kagoshima died of pneumonia Oct. 31 at the age of 116.

KAGOSHIMA, Japan - Kamato Hongo (C), a 114-year-old Japanese woman who became the world's oldest person in March, receives a certificate of honorary citizenship from Kagoshima Mayor Yoshinori Akasaki at an award ceremony in a school gymnasium close to her home in the town of Tamasato on April 14. Around 1,300 people who attended the ceremony cheered for Hongo and she responded with a smile.
