STORY: Malta holds 2022 Rolex Middle Sea Race DATELINE: Oct. 23, 2022 LENGTH: 00:01:49 LOCATION: Valletta CATEGORY: SPORTS SHOTLIST: 1. various of the start of the race at Grand Harbour in Valletta STORYLINE: 2022 Rolex Middle Sea Race, the 43rd edition of the annual yachting race, began on Saturday from Valletta's Grand Harbour. Over 120 boats take part in the race this year, which will take them from Valletta to Sicily, around the Italian island, and back to Malta. The course totals 606 nautical miles. Vessels from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States, as well as from most of Europe are all taking part in the race. Over 110 boats took part in the 2021 Rolex Middle Sea Race. However, in 2020, merely around 50 boats participated in the annual event due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Valletta. (XHTV)
