AEMET reports that despite a spell of freezing weather earlier this month, the average temperature for March was 11.6 degrees Celsius for mainland Spain, which is 1.8 degrees above the average for the period 1991-2020. A record high of 33 degrees Celsius was recorded in the southeast Spanish city of Murcia while in the Canary Islands (off the west coast of Africa) average temperatures were 3 percent above the norm. The above-average temperature was accompanied by weather much drier than usual, with the average rainfall over the country reaching just 21.2 millimeters, down 64 percent compared
