The festival, which concluded on Thursday evening, attracted numerous visitors to the Tel Aviv Port, an area of culture, entertainment and leisure activities in the northwest of the city, to enjoy the 21 bright and colorful light installations from Zigong, a city in southwest China's Sichuan province famous for its lantern culture. A large winding Chinese dragon lightning exhibit beside the landmark of the port "I love Tel Aviv" was particularly a big hit. Monument marks 60th anniversary of last WWII air raid in Osaka

OSAKA, Japan - People look at the names of their relatives and friends killed in air raids in Osaka during World War II on the monument unveiled on Aug. 14 at the Osaka International Peace Center on the 60th anniversary of the last air raid in Osaka Prefecture. The names of 8,800 victims the Osaka prefectural government was able to confirm were engraved on 12 copper plates embedded in a 3-meter-high dome and surrounded by eight bells, which represent the number of major air raids that hit the prefecture.

Kamakura festival to open in Akita Pref.

YOKOTE, Japan - A family admires small kamakuras, an igloo-like snow hut, lit by candles, in Yokote, Akita Prefecture, on Feb. 14, one day before the opening of a two-day annual Kamakura festival. About 100 3-meter-high snow huts and around 10,000 smaller ones were made for the event. Visitors can chat and play in the snow structures.

The 3-meter-high sweet was produced by leading confectionery maker Meiji Seika Ltd. to mark Beckham's appearance in TV commercials for the company. Meiji Seika spent two and a half months making the statue using some several thousand tablets of chocolate.

Tunnel inspectors found the fragment, which had apparently fallen from a 3-meter-high wall in the tunnel between Shin-Shimonoseki and Asa stations. No accidents were reported immediately.

Nobi earthquake took place at 6:37 on October 28, 1891, with the area near Midori of Neo village of Gifu prefecture as the seismic center. It was an enormous earthquake with a magnitude of 8.
