Honda Super Cub output exceeds 50 mil. units

TOKYO, Japan - Honda Motor Co. said on Feb. 8 its 50 cc Super Cub motorcycle (in handout photo) became the world's first motor vehicle to achieve a global production milestone of 50 million units at the end of 2005. Production totaled 50,178,947 units 47 years after its launch in Japan in 1958, Honda said.

Suzuki Motor unveils cheapest 50 cc scooter

TOKYO, Japan - Suzuki Motor Corp. introduced a restyled version of the ''Let's II Standard'' 50 cc scooter (in handout photo) on Oct. 15. The suggested retail price for the new scooter is 105,000 yen, but industry officials said retailers are likely to sell it around the 90,000 yen level to enable it to compete with Honda Motor Co.'s product in the same price range. Suzuki officials said it is the cheapest of all scooters assembled in Japan.

Nissan to release hybrid car

TOKYO, Japan - A handout photo shows a hybrid car combining a 1,800-cc gasoline engine with an electric traction motor which Nissan Motor Co. will release in April. Nissan said March 23 the Tino HYBRID achieves a twofold improvement in fuel economy and a more than 50% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions compared with gasoline-engine vehicles of the same class.

Honda develops new fuel injection system for 50 cc scooter

TOKYO, Japan - Honda Motor Co. said Oct. 3 it has developed what it calls the world's first electronically controlled fuel injection system (in handout photo) for use in four-stroke, 50 cc engines.
