YOKOHAMA, Japan - Sega Corp. and the city office of Yokohama said Sept. 15 that the videogame machine market will build a 30 billion yen amusement facility (shown in an artist's image) in Yokohama's Minato Mirai 21 district by fiscal 2008. The nine-story building with one basement will have a total floor space of some 63,000 square meters, accommodating movie theaters and game arcades among other attractions, they said. (Kyodo)

TOKYO, Japan - The 63,000-ton luxury cruise ship Volendam sails under Tokyo's Rainbow Bridge on Oct 5., becoming the biggest ship ever to do so. GUSHIKAWA, Japan - The father (L) and sister of Shingo Arasaki, a 19-year-old from Okinawa Prefecture who underwent a heart transplant in the United States on Oct. 11, thank the top U.S. military commander in Okinawa on Oct. 24 for help in realizing the operation. Susumu and Asami Arasaki met Lt. Gen. Wallace Gregson (R) at Camp Courtney in Gushikawa. The U.S. military raised $63,000 for the operation and travel expenses.
