Akashi Kaikyo Bridge

The world longest suspension bridge (3,911-meter-long) over the Akashi strait connecting Kobe in Hyogo Prefecture and Awaji Island. The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge's two towers, which rise 297 meters above the water, also are said to be the tallest of thier kind in the world. The bridge is scheduled to open to the public April 5. Construction began in May 1988.

This is the same as photograph #2797. The viewer of the photograph can almost smell the wind blowing over the Seto Inland Sea and feel the liveliness of the workers on the Japanese boat.
