TOKYO, Japan - A bipedal, chair-shaped robot developed by Waseda University and Fukuoka Prefecture robotics firm tmsuk Co. carries a model at the university in Tokyo on Nov. 21. The robot, which is 1.2 meters tall and weighs 60 kilograms, can walk at a speed of about 1 kilometer per hour.

Sony unveils prototype of biped entertainment robot

TOKYO, Japan - Sony Corp. on March 19 introduces the prototype of a small biped entertainment robot, the ''SDR-4X'' featuring advanced walking and sound recognition functions. The robot can sing, dance and automatically right itself when it falls over.
