Sub-temple of Daitoku-ji opened to public for 1st time

KYOTO, Japan - A model sits in a room at the "Kohoan" sub-temple of Daitoku-ji temple in Kyoto, western Japan, on Sept. 25, 2014, during its first opening to the public. The sub-temple was built by Kobori Enshu, a feudal Japanese warlord known as a master of the tea ceremony and a garden designer, and was used as his residence in the evening of life.

Shokintei of Katsura Rikyu Imperial Villa looking across the pond from the bridge. Shokintei was constructed as one of a series of additions to the villa started in 1641. Kobori Enshu was in charge of work on this second addition under orders from Prince Toshitada. Built in irimoya style with a thatched roof, the building has one 11 tatami mat room called Ichino-ma (First Room) and one six and a half tatami room called Tsugino-ma (Second Room). Nagoya Castle

Taira Castle is located in Nakaku, Nagoya city. It was the residence of the Owari Tokugawa family. The castle tower can be seen from the outside of the moat. The castle tower was built by the Sakuji Bugyo (construction prefect) Kobori Enshu in 1612, and was destroyed by fire during the war in 1945. The present castle was restored in 1959.
