Volcanic Eruption Starts Again - Iceland

A new volcano erupted on Thursday, August 22, outside the town of Grindavík in southwestern Iceland, prompting a state of emergency to be declared. Roads were closed, and several areas, including the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, were forced to evacuate due to plumes of toxic gas.

Iceland: Grindavik Volcano New Eruption

A volcano in southwestern Iceland, near the famous Blue Lagoon, erupted for the fifth time since December on Wednesday, May 29. Authorities declared a state of emergency, but air traffic was not significantly affected, and flights continued as usual at Reykjavik’s Keflavik airport. This video, filmed on Thursday, shows lava covering a road in Grindavik.
