Hatoyama denies taking shady donations from resort developer

TOKYO, Japan - Yukio Hatoyama, leader of the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan, meets the press in Tokyo on Feb. 17 to deny allegations that he received some 50 million yen in shady donations from a former resort developer. Toshikazu Hanada said in an article in the monthly ''Shincho 45'' magazine that he gave the money to Hatoyama through donations and political fund-raising events from the late 1980s to around 1991.
