Modernism award given to Japanese school building

NEW YORK, United States - Yoshiaki Hanada, professor at Kobe Design University, explains about the restoration of Hizuchi Elementary School in western Japan, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York on Nov. 13, 2012. The city of Yahatahama in Ehime Prefecture and six experts who worked to restore the municipal school, including Hanada, received the 2012 World Monuments Fund/Knoll Modernism Prize from the World Monuments Fund, a U.S. organization working to preserve buildings with historical and cultural value.
