HIROSHIMA, Japan - An 80-year-old woman in Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture, is killed in a powerful earthquake jolting a wide area of western Japan on March 24. Tomoe Yamasaki was killed at her home when a concrete fence collapsed. In Hojo, Ehime Prefecture, a 50-year-old housewife was killed by a falling chunk of concrete on the balcony of an apartment.

This may be the bronze bell at Jorakuji Temple (important national treasure). Jorakuji was built by Hojo Yasutoki, and a priest from china named Rankei Doryu designed the temple in Zen style, establishing Zen Buddhism in japan for the first time.
