Tokyo Gas to release fuel cell cogeneration system

TOKYO, Japan - Tokyo Gas Co. President Norio Ichino announces in Tokyo on Dec. 6 that the company will put what it says is the world's first commercial residential polymer electrolyte fuel cell cogeneration system on the market, though on a limited scale, on Feb. 8, 2005. The system was developed jointly with Ebara Ballard Corp. and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.

Hakone Shrine

The former Ichino Torii in Hakone Shrine. The all-night lamp was moved to the present position in front of the new Sanno Torii. Since the steel kettle which was there until 1880 is not seen, the photo is believed to have been taken after 1879. The approach to Toshogu Shrine,Nikko

The view of the Ichino torii from the front approach to Toshogu. Ten stone steps called sennin masusugata stand in front of this stone torii. People other than warriors, such as farmers and townspeople, could only go this far when paying respects to the temple. The ditch in the centre and gentle slope difference have been buried and do not exist today. The five-story pagoda,Toshogu Shrine,Nikko

The five-story pagoda of Nikko Toshogu is at the left rear of the Ichino torii. The red-painted pagoda is done in Chinese style at the fifth story, but the other stories are done in Japanese style. The twelve horary signs are carved under the roof of the first floor. The Gochi Nyorai is placed inside the pagoda. The detached garden of Shugaku-in Temple

Shokintei of Katsura Rikyu Imperial Villa looking across the pond from the bridge. Shokintei was constructed as one of a series of additions to the villa started in 1641. Kobori Enshu was in charge of work on this second addition under orders from Prince Toshitada. Built in irimoya style with a thatched roof, the building has one 11 tatami mat room called Ichino-ma (First Room) and one six and a half tatami room called Tsugino-ma (Second Room). Deer on the approach to Kasuga Shrine

Although the title of the photo says 'Deer at Nara Park', this photo was actually taken at the shrine approach of Kasuga Taisha capturing seven deer. A male deer in the centre and female deer surround it. Despite the fact that there are not specific objects to pinpoint the exact location, since there are no stone lanterns and the way the shoulders of the road looks like, it is assumed to have been taken about 550m east of Ichino-torii Gate when facing east.==Date:unknown, Place:Nara, Photo:R. Deer on the approach to Kasuga Shrine

This photo depicts a shack called azumaya and some deer. Two people on the far left appear to be foreigners. Although it is difficult to see the condition of the deer hair, judging from the man's attire and the trees, it was probably summer. Ohashi Bridge at the entrance to the inner sanctum,Mt. Koya

Okunoin, located on the east side of Mt. Koya, is the sacred land surrounding the grave of the founder, Kobo-Taishi, or Kukai. The worship of Kobo-Taishi spread from Mt. The stone torii gate and five-story pagoda stand at the entrance to Nikko Toshogu. The gate was donated by Kuroda Chikuzennokami Nagamasa in 1618. The approach to Hakone Shrine

The Ichino Torii Gate (the First Gate) of Hakone Shrine ca be seen at the end of the street. The shrine approach begins from the gate. This street is Tokaido Highway (present-day National Route 1) where ceder trees line along. Since the telegraoh pole is present, this photo must have been taken after 1873 when the line was placed between Tokyo and Nagasaki. Torii gate at Hakone Gongen

A photo of the redecoration project of the former Ichino torii of Hakone shrine. We can tell this picture was taken before 1880 by the steel kettle, but there are no records of the redecoration. The front entrance to Toshogu Shrine,Nikko

Past the Ichino torii from the front approach, the red-painted Toshogu front gate is seen at the top of the steps. At present, statues of Nio stand to the left and right, and Korean dogs are placed to the right and left of the back. The front is in the style of a Buddhist temple and the back is in the style of a Shinto Shrine. In accordance with the Shintoism and Buddhism separation order of 1872, there was a time when the Nio statues in the front were moved to the back of the Daiyuin Nio Gate and the Korean dogs were moved to the front. This is a photo of that period. The front entrance to Toshogu Shrine,Nikko

Going through the Ichino Torii from the Omote Sando (front approach), visitors see the red painted Toshogu front gate above the stone steps. At present, the Nio statue is placed to the left and right of the front, and Komainu (Korean dog) to the right and left of the rear. The front is done in the style of a temple, and the back in the style of a shrine. Under the Shintoism Buddhism division order issued in 1871, the front statue of Nio was moved to the back of Niomon of Daiyuin, and for a time the Komainu were placed in the front.
