ROME, Italy - A work by Japanese sculptor Mitsuaki Tanabe (R, top) was put on display April 1 at the headquarters of the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome to commemorate the completion of a large freezing facility in Norway to store a variety of seeds to prevent the extinction of agricultural crops. The stainless-steel sculpture, named ''Yasei Ine,'' meaning wild rice, imitates the shape of rough rice, which has a long awn that is distinctive to wild rice.
