Electric garbage collection truck devised

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows an ''electric garbage collection truck'' using Mitsubishi Motors Corp.'s battery system for electric vehicles. The truck, developed by special vehicle maker Kyokuto Kaihatsu Kogyo Co., realized a sharp cut in carbon dioxide emissions, Mitsubishi Motors said.

Police burst into Tokyo apartment, arrest armed man

TOKYO, Japan - Paramedics carry out Yuji Takeshita, a member of a gang affiliated with the Kyokuto-kai underworld syndicate, from an apartment in Machida, Tokyo, on April 21. Takeshita shot himself in the head after holing up in the apartment and firing shots from a window. The stand-off ended after about 15 hours when a squad for police officers fired tear gas and burst in.
