SEOUL, South Korea - Kwon No Kap, a close former aide to South Korean President Kim Dae Jung, was arrested May 3 on suspicion of taking bribes. The arrest of Kwon, a factional leader of the ruling Millennium Democratic Party and a key member of Kim's inner circle, will likely put pressure on the South Korean leader and affect the political equation for South Korea's presidential election.

Deputies to a national convention of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) swing their fits Wednesday Feb. 24 in support of its breakaway from a tripartite committee of government, industry and labor. 'The tripartite committee is meaningless because it has forced only workers to endure pains,' KCTU leader Lee Kap Yong told reporters later.
