Grandma who knows history of Kompira Kabuki

TAKAMATSU, Japan - Takuko Yamamoto shows confetti she made for parades ahead of spring Kabuki performances in Kotohira, Kagawa Prefecture, at her home in the town on April 3, 2013. She has helped liven up performances known as "Shikoku Kompira Kabuki Oshibai" at Kanamaruza, or Kyu Kompira Oshibai (Old Kompira Grand Theater), for nearly 30 years by making boxes of confetti to be thrown over the heads of performers during pre-opening parades every year.

PARIS, France - The recreated interior of Japan's Kotohira Shrine is opened to the press at the Guimet Museum in Paris on Oct. 13 for a special exhibition featuring the screen and sliding-door paintings of the Shinto shrine in Kagawa Prefecture. The exhibition will open Oct. 15 and run through Dec. 8.

Chintei Elementary School built in July 1887 at the border of the settlement in the open lot on the right didn’t exist yet.
