TOKYO, Japan - Yosuke Imada (C), 63-year-old Japanese manager of the prestigious sushi restaurant ''Kyubey'' in Tokyo's posh Ginza district, and Cheng Weitao (L), 41-year-old Chinese manager of a sushi chain in Hong Kong and elsewhere, shake hands at Tokyo's Tsukiji market on Jan. 5 after jointly bidding on a bluefin tuna that sold for 9.63 million yen at the New Year auction at the market, the highest price in eight years. They each took half of the fish, which was caught in the sea off Oma, Aomori Prefecture and cut in two at the market immediately after the bidding.

France unveils 1,000 top restaurants, with Japan outnumbering France

A list of 1,000 outstanding restaurants around the world unveiled in December 2015 by the French foreign ministry has restaurants in Japan outnumbering those in France, making Japan the most featured country on the list.
