Reformer Amien elected Indonesian assembly speaker

JAKARTA, Indonesia - This is a file photo of Indonesian reformist Amien Rais, who was elected speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly on Oct. 3. Amien, 55, has chaired the minority National Mandate Party. As head of Indonesia's second largest Islamic group, the 25-million-strong Muhammadiyah, Amien was prominent in the movement to force then President Suharto to resign last year.
