Iceland: Grindavik Volcano New Eruption

A volcano in southwestern Iceland, near the famous Blue Lagoon, erupted for the fifth time since December on Wednesday, May 29. Authorities declared a state of emergency, but air traffic was not significantly affected, and flights continued as usual at Reykjavik’s Keflavik airport. The latest eruption, which occurred at 1 p.m. on the western side of Mt. Usu, followed a small-scale phreatic explosion high on the northwestern side of Mt.
