The Met Office has issued multiple weather warnings: amber for heavy snow in parts of Yorkshire and yellow for snow and ice across Northern Ireland, Wales, northern and central England, and Scotland.

The Dogger Bank Incident (or 'Russian Outrage') occurred on 22 October 1904, when the Russian fleet, on its way to take part in the Russo-Japanese War, mistook 48 British trawlers for an Imperial Japanese Navy force.
