Hopes of discovering endangered indigenous freshwater salmon rising

Photo taken in June 2012 in Oshino, Yamanashi Prefecture, central Japan, shows a juvenile fish of the endangered "kunimasu" indigenous freshwater salmon species born through artificial fertilization. An extensive hunt for the fish is planned this fall in Lake Tazawa, Akita Prefecture, northern Japan.
